We are proud to announce that we raised $2844.43 in 2013 (Q1+Q2) for our Field O’ Dreams fundraiser. This money will help Baseball Ireland achieve their goal of building a new baseball facility in County Meath, Ireland.

Baseball Ireland recently received a generous grant, based on their tireless efforts and the fundraising that we’ve done so far. Here’s an update from Baseball Ireland:

Phase 1 of Ashbourne baseball field project now a reality!

Ashbourne Baseball has formally been awarded a grant from the LEADER fund to enable the first phase of construction of the new baseball facility in Ashbourne, Co Meath.  The grant is made possible by the Meath Partnership, the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, and the EU. The funds will be combined with a grant from Atlantic Philanthropies and funds raised through the Baseball United Foundation and through the club’s local efforts and members and friends of Baseball Ireland.

Construction is planned to begin at the site early in November for this first $250,000 phase of development and will complete by the spring.  Phase 1 involves the enabling works which includes site clearance and leveling, drainage works, service trenches & connections, perimeter & internal fencing & foul poles, backstop, and some landscaping works.

So this lays the foundations, and now we need to push ahead with the fundraising to fund Phase 2 of the development which will fund the playing field related elements of infield, warning track, dugouts, batting cages, bullpens, etc.  This phase 2 will require at least another $250,000 so we’re looking for any sponsors or donors who can help us to achieve our dream!
