The Board of Directors at the Baseball United Foundation is composed of civic leaders who are dedicated to sharing the game of baseball in the communities we serve. Many of our board members have a background in domestic and international amateur baseball.
Joe Kealty – President
Joe grew up in Framingham, MA and was a 3-year starter at Boston College. He played for the Chatham A’s of the Cape Cod League, the Hoboken Pioneers in Antwerp, Belgium. Joe was the starting first baseman on the Irish National Baseball Team when the team won its first medals in 2004 (bronze) and 2006 (silver).
Joe lives in Melrose, MA with his wife, Megan, and their three daughters.
Chris Gannon – Vice President
Chris grew up in Arlington, MA and pitched at Boston College. He pitched for the Irish National Baseball team from 2004-2006, winning Ireland’s first bronze (2004) and silver (2006) medals in international competition. Chris pitched for six seasons in Germany as a player/coach of the Paderborn Untouchables, in addition to serving as a pitching coach at the Deutsche Baseball Akademie for three seasons. Chris is currently the Vice-President of the 6-9 year old division with the Sachem Youth Baseball and Softball Association in Winchester, MA.
Chris lives in Winchester, MA with his wife, Magdalena, and their two sons.
Brian grew up in Massapequa Park, NY and graduated from Syracuse University. He was a 4-year starter on the Syracuse club baseball team and team captain in his junior and senior seasons. Brian pitched for the Irish National Baseball Team from 2002-2005, including the 2004 team that won Ireland’s first medal in international competition.
Brian is a Director in Treasury at Capital One and lives in Tampa, FL, with his wife, Zoe, and their son, Rory.
John F. Fitzgerald – Treasurer
John is a founding member of the Baseball United Foundation. A graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School and St. John’s University, he was a manager and coach in Kensico Little League (NY) from 1983-2003, where he served as a Division Vice-President from 1986-1994 and League Vice-President from 1994-2003, where he launched Kensico’s summer and fall baseball programs and was responsible for sponsorships and the league’s annual parade.
John lives in Valhalla, NY with his wife Maureen. He owns a consulting business and enjoys spending time with his 12 grandchildren.
Joe Janish – Secretary
Joe was a four-year starting catcher for St. Peter’s College, where he was a two-time All-Conference selection. In his senior year, Joe was an ABCA Northeast Region All-American catcher and he was 15th in the nation in batting average (.418). Joe has coached at the collegiate level and he has worked as a private instructor.
Kevin grew up on Long Island, NY and was an outfielder for Fordham University where he was selected to the All Patriot League Team as well as Long Island University where he was selected to the All New York State Team. He was the starting right fielder on the Ireland National Team during the European Championships in Stockholm Sweden (2002, 4th place) and when the team won its first medals in international competition in Germany 2004 (bronze) and Belgium 2006 (silver) .
Kevin lives in Singapore with his wife, Eilidh, and their 3 children.
Chris grew up in Plainedge, NY, and was an active ball player from an early age, participating in his town league, on his high school team, and spent many summers on various travel teams.
Chris graduated Fordham University, including a semester abroad at University College of Dublin. Chris relocated to Dublin in 1998.
In 2000, thanks to a car bumper sticker, Chris discovered there was a baseball league in Dublin and from then has been heavily involved with Irish baseball:
- 2000-2011: Played and coached in the Ireland baseball league with the Dublin City Hurricanes, was a member of the Ireland National Baseball Team, and held a seat on the board of Baseball Ireland, the national governing body
- 2015 to date: Director of the Baseball United Foundation
In 2011, Chris, his wife, Janice, and daughter, Caoilinn, relocated to Atlanta, GA, where they still reside.
Fr. Dan O’Reilly
Fr. Dan O’Reilly was born in Manhattan and raised in the Bronx. A graduate of Regis High School, he majored in philosophy and played baseball at Princeton University before entering the seminary for the Archdiocese of New York. After earning Master’s degrees in theology and divinity from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, he was ordained a priest in 2003. He has served as parochial vicar at Resurrection Church in Rye, Director of Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese of New York, Spiritual Director for the St. John Neumann Seminary College in Yonkers, and Catholic Campus Minister at SUNY Maritime College in the Bronx.
Father Dan has been the director of Columbia Catholic Ministry since 2011 and the administrator of Corpus Christi Church since 2013.
Aidan grew up in Bronx where he discovered his first love, baseball. A graduate of Manhattan College, he lives in Yonkers, NY with his wife Betsy and their twin boy’s Sean and Declan.
Aidan is the General Manager for Pella Windows and Doors for the New York Tri-State Area.
