Point Pleasant, NJ native and member of the Cincinnati Reds donates portion of his Players Choice Awards charitable contribution to the “Grand Slam for Sandy” fundraising effort New York, NY, Tuesday, February 26, 2013 … Todd Frazier of the Cincinnati Reds and a native of Point Pleasant, NJ, has designated the Baseball United Foundation’s “Grand Slam for Sandy” fundraising effort as the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Major League Baseball Players Trust. The donation is part of a $20,000 charitable contribution Todd received for being named by his National League peers as the 2012 National League Outstanding Rookie in Players Choice Awards balloting. Through its “Grand Slam for Sandy” fundraising effort, the Baseball United Foundation is providing much needed relief to families in Monmouth County, NJ, who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. “When Sandy hit, I knew I wanted to help out in some way. Anytime you can help families get back on their feet after such devastation, it is a no brainer,” stated Todd. The Grand Slam for Sandy fundraiser was started by Boston Red Sox minor league catcher Jayson Hernandez and his former Rutgers teammate Rob Corsi, in conjunction with the Baseball United Foundation.
